Boudoir After Baby: Coming Home to a Body That Did Something Extraordinary
Boudoir after baby is one of the most tender kinds of session I photograph, and one of the most misunderstood. So let me start with what this is not. It is not about getting your body back. It is not a reward you earn once you reach a certain number on the scale. And it is absolutely not about pretending the last year or five never happened.
It is about a woman looking at the body that grew, birthed, fed and carried her children, and seeing it with kindness instead of criticism, maybe for the first time.
The quiet loss no one warns you about
So many of the mothers who come to my Footscray studio say a version of the same thing. I love my children, and I have completely lost myself. Somewhere between the night feeds, the school runs and everyone else’s needs, the woman in the mirror started to feel like a stranger.
If that is you, I want you to know that you are not vain for missing her. Wanting to feel like yourself again, not a before version of yourself, but yourself, is one of the healthiest things you can want.

You will not hear “bounce back” here
I want to be clear about the language in my studio, because words matter when you are feeling vulnerable. There is no bounce back talk here. No before and after. No waiting until you have lost the baby weight.
Your softness photographs as warmth. Your stretch marks are the record of something extraordinary. A caesarean scar is not something to hide, it is the exact place your story and your child’s story meet. When mums see these parts of themselves photographed with intention and beautiful light, something shifts. What they have been criticising in the mirror suddenly looks like what it always was. Evidence of strength.
Boudoir after baby: when is the right time?
Whenever you decide it is. Some mums book a session at six months postpartum, some at six years. There is no window you have missed and no body you need to arrive in. The right time is simply when you feel the pull to reconnect with yourself, and honestly, if you have read this far, that pull might already be there.
A session built around comfort
Everything about a session with me is designed so that you, the woman who makes every decision at home, does not have to make a single one here. Professional hair and makeup while you sit down with a hot coffee that stays hot. Outfits chosen together, from silk robes to that oversized shirt that hides nothing and softens everything, and I cover exactly what works in my guide on what to wear to a boudoir shoot. Every pose guided, head to toe. Feeding breaks are always welcome, and if you need to check your phone between sets, no one will blink.
What mums tell me afterwards
The sentence I hear most often is not about the photos at all. It is: I forgot what it felt like to be looked after. And then, when they see their gallery: I did not know I could still look like that. You never stopped looking like that. You just have not been seen in a while.
If this has been sitting quietly with you
You do not need to be ready. You do not need to be brave. You just need to be a little curious about the woman who has been there the whole time, underneath the spit-up cloths and the mental load.
Send me a message here and ask anything you like, with no pressure and no obligation. And if you want to see exactly how the process works from first call to finished album, it is all laid out in what happens after you book.
Your body is not a before photo. It is the whole story.
