Are Boudoir Photos Private? How Your Images Are Protected
Are boudoir photos private? Before almost any woman asks me about outfits, pricing or posing, she asks some version of this question. Who will see these? And she is right to ask. You are trusting a photographer with the most vulnerable version of yourself, and you deserve a clear, direct answer, not vague reassurance.
So here is exactly how privacy works at my Footscray studio, spelled out properly.
Are boudoir photos private? The short answer
Nothing, and I mean nothing, is ever shared without your explicit written consent. Not a photo on Instagram. Not an anonymous crop on my website. Not a single frame, anywhere, ever. The default for every session is complete privacy. Sharing is something you can opt into, never something you have to opt out of.
Many of my clients choose to share nothing at all, and their galleries live only in their homes and their albums. That is not an inconvenience to me. It is the entire point of what I do.

Who is actually in the room?
Another question underneath the question. During your shoot, the studio is closed. It is you, me, and my hair and makeup artist, who leaves once you are ready if you prefer. No assistants wandering through, no other bookings overlapping, no one walking in. You can bring a trusted friend if that helps you feel safe, and you can also enjoy the fact that no one else ever needs to know this session happened.
What is a model release, and do I have to sign one?
A model release is a written permission form that allows a photographer to share specific images. Here is what you need to know: it is entirely optional, it is specific rather than blanket, and you choose exactly which images it covers, if any. Nothing in my booking process requires you to agree to sharing. If you sign nothing, nothing is shared. It really is that simple, and any reputable studio should tell you the same.
What about anonymous photos?
Some women love their images and want to share the artistry without being identifiable. There are beautiful ways to do this. Faceless compositions, images where fabric, light or angle keeps your identity yours, or simply choosing the one image where you feel completely comfortable. This is always a conversation, never an assumption, and you can change your mind at any time, including after you have said yes. One message and an image comes down, no questions asked.
How your files are protected
Your gallery lives in a private, password-protected space that only you can access. Your images are never used as portfolio samples in the studio, never shown to other clients without permission, and never sold or supplied to anyone else. When you receive your album and digital collection, you own your images, and what happens to them from there is entirely your decision.
Behind the scenes content follows the same rule
Sometimes sessions include behind-the-scenes moments, and it is worth saying clearly: the same consent rule applies. Nothing filmed or photographed behind the scenes is ever shared without your written approval, and anything you are not comfortable with never leaves the studio. There is never any uncensored content shared, full stop.
Ask me the awkward questions
If you have been holding back from a boudoir session because of privacy, I would rather you ask me every hard question than quietly rule it out. Ask me who sees the images. Ask me where files are stored. Ask me what happens if you change your mind. These are exactly the right questions, and I will always answer them directly.
Send me a message here and ask anything at all. And if you want to see how a session actually unfolds from start to finish, I walk through the whole process in what happens after you book your boudoir session.
Your story is yours. My job is to help you see it, not to broadcast it.
