Bridal boudoir in Melbourne is having a quiet moment, and I understand why. In the middle of planning a wedding for everyone else, a bridal boudoir session is the one part of the celebration that is entirely, unapologetically yours.

Some brides book a session as a wedding morning gift for their partner. Others book it purely for themselves, as a way to pause and actually feel the moment they are standing in. Most tell me afterwards it ended up being both.

When should you book your bridal boudoir session?

My honest recommendation is six to eight weeks before your wedding. Close enough that you look and feel like your wedding-day self, far enough out that nothing is rushed and your album or gift is ready in time.

A lovely tip from past brides: book your session after your hair and makeup trial, or treat the session itself as a chance to test how you photograph with a similar look. Either way, my professional hair and makeup artist takes care of you on the day, so you arrive with clean hair and a bare face and leave feeling like a bride.

What to bring

The pieces that make bridal boudoir feel bridal are usually already part of your wedding story. Your veil, which creates the most breathtaking images and hides nothing but softens everything. Wedding lingerie or whites and ivories. Something borrowed or blue if you are keeping tradition. Your engagement ring, of course. And anything that belongs to your love story, his shirt, her jumper, the perfume you wore on your first date.
